Here are a few hints to help you achieve the best possible portrait:
Be prepared - bring hair products and makeup for last minute touch-ups. Bring a quiet friend to help with your clothing, make-up, and hair. If possible, ask your eye-care professional if you could barrow a blank frame of your eye-wear, this will cutout any glare. Wear current fashions, be current. Bring several changes of outfits. Bring semi-casual, business casual, and business attire for your choices. Wear colors that flatter you for your portrait. Unless you are a redhead, your best color is a mid to dark blue. It is best to wear mid to darker colored clothing. Best colors are blues, blacks, browns, greens, reds, and grays. Stay away from colors that are close to your skin tone. Avoid whites, pinks, yellows, light greens, and light reds. Basically, any color that is close to your skin tone. Have your hair styled weeks before your appointment, not the day before. Give yourself time to grow into the style. Avoid any and all confrontations prior to your photo shoot. We want you to enjoy your portraits for many years. These suggestions will make you proud to show your friends and family. |

Kevin Mills is a native of Huntingdon and graduated from HAHS in 1977. He acquired a love and passion for photography at an early age. At age 12, Kevin started developing and printing black and white film and prints in his parent's bathroom. The chemistry played havoc with the counter tops and back splashes, making the 'rants very unhappy. Soon, he progressed to developing and printing color slide film, Cibachrome. Kevin then progressed to taking pictures of friends, family, and fellow classmates. Kevin's business was not very lucrative starting out; you do not make much money when it is free. After graduating from dear ol' HAHS, he moved to Colorado. There, after a brief coal mining stint, he worked for a photographer in Grand Junction, Colorado, H. Curtis Crouch. Curt was two points from achieving Master of Photographer and later in life did achieve his Masters. From Curt's tutelage and mentorship, Kevin learned many new concepts and skills and developed into an accomplished professional photographer. Currently, Kevin has achieved many professional and personal goals in photography. He enjoys learning the latest photographic techniques and then teaching others his love for the art. Kevin has been teaching photography classes both private and at Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center in Mill Creek. Kevin has been hired for his abilities by the Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau, The William E. Swigart Antique Automobile Museum, Pennsylvania Pursuits Magazine, Verizon White Pages, The Alleghenies, RED Automobiles, Laurel Rock Farm, Miles Media and Britcher Tents, just to name a few of his clients. Kevin's pictures were showcased in the CNB Bank's,of Clearfield, annual calendar for the year of 2010. For the 2011 and 2012 calendars, CNB Bank requested Kevin to judge a customer photograph calendar. Those calendars have been met with overwhelming success. CNB Bank has already requested Kevin's judging services for the 2013 calendar. Kevin's photographic love and proficiency have a broad gamut. He has adeptness in all types of photography, including portraiture, nature, still-life, landscape, architecture, wedding, and teaching, virtually all aspects of photography. Kevin has also developed the ability to design and produce websites, which works well with the photography aspect of his knowledge. Having the ability to see an image and then reproduce it as a photograph is a skill Kevin has developed over the last 40 years. Having "The Eye" is a talent who few are born with, but can be learned by the determined. Kevin has also donated his time to Shirley Home for the Aged, HCVB, HCCTC, and other private groups. Kevin has been in photography for approximately 40 years and has operated a photographic business for the last 30 years.
